Precision in all areas.

In 1950, Hans Pfeiffer showed the courage to make uncomfortable decisions and to throw loved ones overboard when he converted the wainwright business into a company for turning parts. His decision proved him right: in the decades that followed, with the support of family and employees, the competence of turning parts were expanded to include milling, grinding, broaching, gearing, roll thread and polishing parts. Everyone pulls together — the family-run business Pfeiffer is now in its fourth generation, based in the heart of the Black Forest.

Our history

The start of a long tradition

Hermann Josef Pfeiffer founded our company in the Upper Black Forest in 1923. Originally specializing in the manufacturing of wooden wagon wheels, the company was well-known under the term “wheelwright” and profited from the region’s long-established tradition of skilled craftsmanship. Just three years later, in 1926, Pfeiffer developed the first wooden washing machine manufactured in the Upper Black Forest – a ground-breaking moment in the company’s early history.

Wood to metal

Hans Pfeiffer introduced a fundamental change in 1950. Production shifted from wood to metal materials, inspired by the exacting work of the Black Forest watchmaking industry. This new orientation led to the introduction of the first cam-type turning machine in 1952, which laid the foundation for modern manufacturing processes. In the following years, the company continued to grow steadily, so that the production area was expanded in the middle of the 1960s.

In the 1970s, Ulrike Straub, Rudi Pfeiffer, and Johannes Pfeiffer joined the company and led with new ideas and a clear vision for the future. Following that, we have continuously been developing technological competencies in, for example, cutting, milling, grinding, gear cutting, broaching, honing, and polishing. These manufacturing technologies are constantly being updated and equipped with the latest machine technologies to meet the increasing requirements of the market.

In 1978, the company began to expand into the commercial sector, again increasing our production area. Further technological progress was achieved with the introduction of a DNC system and CNC machine tools. At the beginning of the 1990s, the company ushered in a production planning and control system (PPS), followed by CAD and CAM programming solutions that further digitalized and optimized the manufacturing.

Tradition has a future

Our growth continued at the turn of the century. We received ISO 9001:2015 certification and energy certification based on ISO 50:001, which documents our commitment to quality and energy efficiency. We obtained the environment certification based on ISO 14:001 in 2016, underscoring our sustainable handling of resources. Additionally, our production capacity grew steadily to over 6500 m² by 2025.

We recognize how important it is to remain flexible and adapt to new situations and conditions. This knowledge is not significant only for us; it will also be passed down to the next generation and is valued by our customers. Because the next generation is already a fixture of our company with Melanie, Jonas, and Marius.

Today, Hans Pfeiffer GmbH stands for the perfect combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology. We continue to achieve progress without forgetting our roots, and we rely on the highest quality in every branch of our production – a success story that began over 100 years ago.
